COALITION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN DEVELOPMENT

In Indonesia, Yayasan Srikandi Lestari – together with affected fishing communities – are taking action against the Pangkalan Susu Coal Power Plant, run by Sinohydro Corporation Limited. Through media campaigns, capacity-building and educational activities, they protect the community’s right to a healthy life and environment.

Samsul Bahri and Samsir, a father and son who are members of a farmer group in North Sumatra, have been detained since February 10, 2021, on allegedly false charges. Legal advocates have called their arrest a form of criminalization aimed at obstructing the farmer group’s work in rehabilitating mangrove forests and defending land rights in the province’s forest areas.
